1994 - Joe & Phyllis Casey (NH) Square Dance Caller & Teacher

Joe and Phyllis Casey started their square dance involvement in 1947 and are still active today. Joe started calling in the traditional square dance and made the transition to modern western squares and has been at it for 45 years. During that time he had a very popular square dance band for 20 years.

When one talks of firsts in the New England square dance scene the Casey's come to mind. They were involved in the start up and are founders of the Tri-State callers Association, New England Council of callers Association, New England Council of Round Dance Teachers Association, Co-Op Committee and the Square Dance Foundation of New England. On the National scene they served on the Executive Board of Legacy and were a founding member of CALLERLAB. Joe has called at all 36 New England Square and Round Dance Conventions. They were recipients of the Yankee Clipper Award in 1985.

This pioneering couple blazed a trail in the promotion of the square dance activity and in the building of a firm New England organizational structure through dedicated service that takes them into our New England. Hall of Fame.
