Local Legend Award

Award Information

This award was instituted to honor those individuals and couples who have advanced the goals of the SDFNE by their actions within their local areas over the years. The goals are the promotion, preservation, and perpetuation of the square and round dance activity.

To be nominated for the Local Legend Award, the persons(s) must have been active in the activity for over 15 years, and have performed services(s) to the activity within their local area directly in support of the goals of the SDFNE.

Nominations must be made by as SDFNE member or may be solicited by the Local Legend Award Committee. Nominees need not be members of the SDFNE in order to be eligible. The primary reason for being nominated for this award must be for efforts toward the overall growth of the total activity in the nominee’s local area.

The SDFNE will arrange for an appropriate time and place to present the award at a function in the recipient’s local area. Each recipient will receive a certificate of recognition and their name will be listed on a Local Legend plaque which will be on permanent display in the Charlie and Bertha Baldwin Library Museum.

Note: Those who have received either the Hall of Fame or Yankee Clipper Awards will not be eligible to receive the Local Legend Award. However, receiving the Local Legend Award will not disqualify the recipient from future consideration for the Hall of Fame or Yankee Clipper Awards.
