SDFNE Hall of Fame and Local Legend Awards

The SDFNE has two annual awards given to area dance leaders:  The Square Dance Foundation of New England Hall of Fame and The Square Dance Foundation of New England Local Legend Award.

The Hall of Fame

Our Hall of Fame was established in 1992 to recognize those who have made significant contributions to New England’s dance activity. Nominations are made by Foundation members and selection is by a committee. Those selected are inducted at our annual membership meeting held in May of each year. Photograph plaques are displayed on the walls of our Archive Center, and a complete historical documentation on each inductee is on file.

Local Legend Award

This award was established in 2002 to honor those individuals and couples who have advanced the goals of the SDFNE by their actions within their local areas over the years. The goals are the promotion, preservation, and perpetuation of the square and round dance activity.
