Square Dance Leaders
Dick and Judy Severance represent the type of Square Dancers of whom our activity can be proud. They have been active not only in Square Dancing, but in the Community as well and have received recognition on the Community, State and National levels.
Starting square dancing in the early 1970’s as members of the Queen City Promenaders they have supported the club serving in many offices and twice as Presidents. They have served as representatives to EDSARDA, to the Square Dance Foundation of New England and Legacy. For the National Archives they are developing a New England Center, Library and Museum. Since 1981 they have been members of the Board of Directors of the Foundation and from 1984 – 1986 served as Presidents. They are also International Trustees of Legacy and members of the Lloyd Shaw Foundation. One of their many interests has been in Public Relations particularly in the Square Dance field.
On a broader scale Dick has been an active member of the Y’s Men’s Club of the YMCA, Director of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and President of Parents Without Partners. Dick and Judy are also members of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
They have received many awards over the years among them being;
1961 Jaycee of the Year
1962 Outstanding Director of the Year
1962 Won the Jaycee State of New Hampshire “Speak Up Jaycee” Award
1963National 1st place Award for promotion of the
“Manchester Winter Carnival”
1981 thru 1987 Listed in “Who’s Who in the East”
1983 Listed among “Two Thousand Notable Americans”
1983 Community Leaders of America
1983 and 1987 “Personalities of America”
1985 Elected to the International Platform Speakers Association,
a prestigious National Public Speakers Association.
1985 and 1986 “Who’s Who in Finance and Industry”
In the business community Dick is Treasurer of the Profile Club of New Hampshire Insurance Companies and also Treasurer and Corporate Secretary of the Keller Group of Companies.
In addition to all these activities, Dick and Judy are Family People and the proud parents of six children.
Credentials such as these mean that the Yankee Clipper Award is certainly deserved by Dick and Judy Severance as they continue to use their many talents in the field of Square Dancing and on the broader scale of State and National activities.
