Award Information
The Directors of the Square Dance Foundation of New England, Inc., voted to institute a New England “Hall of Fame” to honor those individuals and couples who have by their actions over the years advanced the goals of the Foundation: Promotion, Preservation, & Perpetuation of the square dance activity.
To be nominated for installation into the SDFNE’s Hall of Fame the person(s) must have been active in the activity for a minimum of seven (7) years, must have made an outstanding contribution to the activity in the past, or is presently performing a service to the activity directly in supporting of the goals of the SDFNE: Promotion, Preservation, & Perpetuation of the square dance activity. The primary impetus for being nominated is for efforts accomplished towards the overall growth of the total activity.
People who formed the background for the many forms of today’s activity should be recognized. The nominee does not have to still be active, and the award may be made posthumously.
Nominations must be made by an SDFNE member or may be solicited by the Hall of Fame Committee. Nominees need not be members of the SDFNE in order to be eligible.
Those selected are inducted ar our annual membership meeting held in May of each year.
Note: Those who have received the Hall of Fame Award will not be eligible to receive the Local Legend Award. However, receiving the Local Legend Award will not disqualify the recipient from future consideration for the Hall of Fame Award.
