Square Dance Caller & Teacher
Ralph Page was a contra dance caller, teacher, musician, composer, researcher and dance historian.
He began his career as a caller in 1930 at a dance in Stoddard, NH. His memory lives on through his contribution to the Square Dance scene for half a century, his Northern Junket publication, his contras and quadrille recordings, his involvement with the folk and square dance camps, and his droll New England humor.
Ralph was a folklorist, an historian and a pr9tector of the Heritage Dances of America. He was a founder of the New England Folk Festival Association and was recognized as the Dean of New England Callers. He kept dancing alive in New England through a time when no one else was calling traditional dances.
The Ralph Page Collection resides with the University of New Hampshire. Indeed, Ralph Page, with the support of his wife, Ada, is one of the legends of our ever changing square dance world. He is recognized internationally as the foremost authority on the dances of New England.
We honor Ralph’s memory by inducting him and his wife, Ada into the Square Dance Foundation of New England Hall of Fame.
